Fragmentation / Softies / Ricordea Ricordea are another type of mushroom coral. Some Caribbean specimens are spectacular! The one I'm dividing is a plain ol' Pacific species. He was attached the base of a Euphyllia coral I'll be dividing later. As you can see in Figure 1, It's ok to be rough on them. I just ripped him off the skeleton. Figure 1 In Figure 2, I cut him thru the oral disc with some scissors, and again, just dropped it into a rubble area in low current. Ricordea are slow growers and will take more time to develop back into a round animal after division, but as I said about the Caribbean specimens... It's worth the wait :) Figure 2
