"Abandoned" mussel valves on a cooler top to demonstrate the subtle differences in species and how mussel diversity can be found quickly and easily in the Tippecanoe.

Note: It is illegal in Indiana to remove mussels from the stream. All specimens in the photo were gathered for the purpose of education, and returned to the stream. The only live specimen bothered was a giant floater looked over and left alive in a raccoon midden (a principle predator of mussles), and we gave him his second chance :)
