Welcome to our e-Guide to the Common Fishes of the Toledo Area!

Thank you for taking time to stop by our website, we hope you will enjoy and learn about our fantastic fish fauna through our e-Guide "Common Fishes of the Toledo Area".

The 30 page guide provides a start to successfully identifying the 94 fish species found in the Huron-Erie Lake Plain streams such as the lower Maumee, Portage and Raisin Rivers. This is a first attempt at a more comprehensive booklet that will cover the geology, taxononmy, and natural history of the Western Basin of Lake Erie and its tributary stream fishes.

The following link will provide a pdf copy of the file. It is suggested you right click and "Save Target As" to avoid your browser from freezing.

“Common Fishes of the Toledo Area” was developed through funding provided by National Science Foundation GK-12 Program, "Building an Environmental Science Learning Community at the Land-Lake Ecosystem Interface". The guide was developed to serve as a resource for citizens, educators and professionals of the Maumee River drainage.
